Teacher resume examples

Principals and hiring committees want to see three things quickly: what and who you teach, how your students did, and what you added to the school beyond your classroom. Below is a full elementary teacher example, bullets you can adapt, and how to turn a teaching resume into one for a new career.

The short answer

A good teacher resume names your certification, grade levels and subjects at the top, then shows results: test score gains, reading levels, attendance or programs you started. Use one page early in your career and two with more experience. If you are leaving teaching, translate classroom work into training, communication and project skills.

Questions

What should be on a teacher resume?

Your certification and grade band, every teaching role with grade, subject and class size, bullets with student results, education, and activities such as clubs, coaching or committees.

How do I write a teacher resume for a career change?

Lead with a summary that names the new role. Rewrite bullets in the new field's words: lessons become training sessions, students become learners or users, and grading becomes measuring progress. Keep the numbers.

Should I include student teaching on my resume?

Yes, if you are a new teacher. List it like a job with the school, grade and dates, and add two or three bullets about what you planned and taught.

How long should a teacher resume be?

One page for new teachers. Two pages are fine with several years of experience, especially if you have leadership roles or endorsements to show.
