Cover letters

Create a cover letter

Start a letter linked to your resume, with the same letterhead and design.

Updated October 8, 2026

Every resume template has a matching cover letter. Your letter uses the same header, colors and fonts as the resume it is linked to.

Ways to start

  • In the editor: select “Add cover letter” in the Resume / Cover letter switch at the top.
  • From My resumes: open a resume’s menu and choose “Write a cover letter”.
  • From My cover letters: create a new one and pick the resume to link.
  1. The job: enter the job title and company. You can skip this and fill it in later.
  2. Your letter: draft it from your resume, write your own, or start from an example.
  3. If you draft from your resume, choose up to three skills to focus on, a tone and a length.

A drafted letter only uses what is already in your resume. Read it and make it your own before you send it.

Tip: One resume can have several letters — one for each job. Switch between them from the Cover letter tab.
