One column · IBM Plex SansIrish CV template and format
Irish employers use the word CV and expect a format close to the UK one: A4 paper, a short profile, experience most recent first and no photo. Start from a template below and the editor uses UK and Ireland settings.

Common practice, not fixed rules. Employers differ, so follow the job ad when it asks for something specific.
Sections to include, in order
- Contact details. Name, phone, email, town or county, and a LinkedIn link.
- Personal profile. Three or four lines on your experience and what you are looking for.
- Work experience. Most recent first, with month and year and points that show results.
- Education. Degree and college. Recent school leavers often add Leaving Certificate results.
- Skills. Tools, methods and languages that match the job.
- Optional sections. Certifications, volunteering, interests that support the application.
Tips
- Use Irish and British spelling (organise, programme).
- If you are applying from abroad, a line on your work permit or Stamp status can help. It is optional.
- Keep interests short and specific, or leave them out.
- Tailor the profile to each role rather than using one version for every application.

Is an Irish CV different from a UK CV?
Very little. Both use A4, a personal profile and no photo. Irish graduates often include Leaving Certificate results, which UK applicants would replace with A levels.
Should I add a photo to an Irish CV?
Usually not. Most Irish employers do not expect one.
How long should an Irish CV be?
Two pages is typical for experienced candidates; one page for students and graduates.
