Write work experience that reads well
Structure each role with clear dates and short, specific achievements.
Updated October 8, 2026
Each position has a job title, employer, location, start and end date, and a list of achievements. Use “Present” for your current role.
Writing achievements
- Start with an action: “Led”, “Designed”, “Reduced”, “Launched”.
- Say what changed because of your work. Add a number only when it is real and you can explain it.
- Keep each line short. Two lines on the page is usually the limit.
- Put the most relevant achievements first for the job you are applying to.
Use the arrows next to a position to move it up or down. Most recent first is the usual order.
Tip: The editor flags entries that need attention, such as a role without an employer.
